King County Pollution
I created these maps to explore the systemically unjust urban landscape of King County, Washington as a part of my GIS Certificate program at Western Washington University.

For my analysis, I began by finding and processing raw census data for King County. I created a model with custom parameters to automate the process of analyzing demographic characteristics in areas near pollution sources. Then, I used Areal Weighted Interpolation to estimate the population by census block in buffers around each TRI and Superfund Site. The final layout includes a box plot with summary statistics from my analysis. I also explored how different types of classification and normalization affect the visualization of identical data. My results are summarized in the layouts below.
